Since October 7, many American Jews have had to wrestle with questions about the role of Israel in their own sense of Jewish identity. On the political right, left, and center, Israel has become a catalyst for statements about what it means to be an American Jew. In the session, and using texts, we will explore the way Israel acts as a prism for American Jews to articulate their own sense of self, and think about what it means to be an American Jew in this moment.
