Berkeley Hillel at GLIDE SF

Join Berkeley Hillel for a day of volunteering, Jewish learning and community building at GLIDE, San Francisco’s nationally recognized center for social justice – dedicated to fighting systemic injustices, creating pathways out of poverty and crisis, and transforming lives. GLIDE values radical inclusivity, truth telling, love, hope and celebration. Berkeley Hillel will be holistically supporting their mission to alleviate suffering and break cycles of marginalization by participating in service and learning on Sunday, March 17th.

We will be meeting at Berkeley Hillel at 8 am to enjoy a bit of breakfast and head to San Francisco together. Our day will then continue as follows:

8 am – 9 am: Travel to GLIDE in San Francisco together, as a group.

9:15 am – 10 am: Join the GLIDE community in their Sunday celebration, as a means of connecting to the folks we will be serving and working alongside with.

10:15 am – 11:15 am: Partake in Jewish learning with Rabbi Michael Lezak, the Social Justice Director at GLIDE’s Center for Social Justice.

11:30 am – 1:30 pm: Volunteer in lunch service, helping GLIDE to serve over 2,000 meals a day.

1:30 pm – 3:00 pm: Join Del Seymour in a walking tour of the Tenderloin, a historic and underserved community in San Francisco – where GLIDE resides.

3:00 pm – 4:00 pm: Return to Berkeley Hillel together as a group.

There will be no cost to participate – except BART fees (currently $4.50, each way). If this is an obstacle or if you have any other questions, please feel free to reach out to Chance Reiniesch (creiniesch@berkeleyhillel.org). Sign up below!
