Leah Kahn

Title: Rabbi Martin Ballonoff Memorial Senior Jewish Educator

Leah Kahn is the Rabbi Martin Ballonoff Senior Jewish Educator, and is passionate about helping college students create and connect to a vibrant Jewish life. She oversees the Berkeley Hillel Fellowship Program, which offers 12 innovative fellowships for students. She teaches regularly, and mentors and trains staff to enhance the educational content and offerings of Berkeley Hillel. Leah is a professional modern dancer and a certified yoga instructor, and is currently developing new methodologies for exploring identity through movement with students. She started her Hillel career as the Director of Engagement at the University of Chicago, where she was instrumental in building innovative approaches to engage a variety of students. Leah holds an MA in Jewish Studies and Experiential Education from the Spertus Institute of Jewish Studies, and a certificate in Jewish Studies from The Pardes Institute in Jerusalem, where she studied for three years. In 2016, Leah was a recipient of The Covenant Foundation Pomegranate Prize. Leah loves cooking vegan meals, reading, going to the theater, and creating choreography. She lives in Berkeley with her husband Darrell and their daughter, Hadar.
