Title: Schultz Freshmen Engagement Fellow
Hi, my name is Abby. I’m a freshman at Berkeley studying Molecular and Cell Biology as well as Psychology on the pre-med path. Throughout my adjustment into life at Cal, Hillel has been my go-to place to see friends, take a break from work, and simply feel at home. It was always a hope of mine to find a welcoming Jewish community wherever I ended up and I’ve been so lucky to be a part of Berkeley Hillel where I’ve made some of my closest friends.
Apart from Hillel, I am also a member of Tri Delta sorority on campus and have recently become a Campus Ambassador through UC Berkeley’s Visitor Services where we act as tour guides (among other things) to prospective students and visitors. In addition, I am part of the TAMID consulting group that consults for Israeli start-ups. At home, I was a self-defense instructor after practicing in Kempo karate for almost eleven years and testing for my second-degree black belt this past summer. I’m so excited to get more involved in Hillel and help freshmen just like myself through the adjustment process of coming into college. Go Bears!
