Berkeley Beit Midrash

We are here to support you in your Jewish learning journey, wherever you are, and whatever that means to you! We’re excited to provide you with a variety of ways to plug into Jewish learning at Berkeley Hillel.

The Berkeley Beit Midrash will be open weekly on Tuesdays from 12:00-2:00pm for all kinds of Jewish learning. Bring your lunch and learn Torah on your terms, with a chevruta (learning partner), group, or on your own. The Berkeley Beit Midrash is a place where learners of all levels create community around Torah lishma (learning for its own sake). Want to learn Hebrew? Study the weekly Torah portion? Learn Talmud? We’re here to help you do that.

Don’t know where to begin? Talk to Rav Maya, who can’t wait to support your Jewish learning journey. She can pair you with someone to learn with, or help connect you with other folks who want to learn the same thing. The Beit Midrash is full of books just waiting to be studied. Ask Rav Maya for a tour if you feel overwhelmed or want to know more. You can also stop by her office in the Dov Den to borrow a book or get guidance on what to study or read.

Have something you want to learn or read about? Shoot Rav Maya an email (mzinkow@berkeleyhillel.org) or stop by her office in the Dov Den to chat.
